MEETING:  The next meeting will be on Saturday, August 17, 2013, beginning at 8:30 AM for breakfast burritos and coffee and 9:00 AM for the meeting at the Galveston Country Club, 14228 Stewart Road.

Program:  Dr. Jens Figlus and Captain Robert Webster from Texas A&M University in Galveston will give a presentation on the three phases of the Sargassum Early Advisory System (SEAS) that they developed.  It’s everything you always wanted to know about the sargassum sea weed but were afraid to ask!  Learn why sargassum is heavy one year and small like this year.

Bring your neighbors and friends and come here this great presentation.

Sea Turtles Donation:  The HEART (Help Endangered Animals – Ridley Turtles) organization needs your help to protect the endangered Kemp’s Ridley Sea Turtle.   Visit the website at:  http://www.ridleyturtles.org/
Tuesdays through August 20:  Band Concerts: The Tuesday Galveston Summer Band Concerts under the direction of Frank Incaprera will be held at the Sealy Gazebo, 24th & Avenue I (Sealy), starting at 7:30 PM.  This is the concert’s 85th season and the City of Galveston has sponsored the free family band concerts continuously since 1928.  This is Americana at its best!!
