MEETING: The next meeting will be Saturday, September 15, 2018, at the Galveston Country Club, 14228 Stewart Road , starting at 8:30 AM and the meeting starting at 9:00 AM. Please note this will be a full breakfast starting at 8:30 AM so come hungry!
PROGRAM: The West Galveston Island Property Owners Association is pleased to have the Galveston Parks Board as our guest speaker. The main topic will be beach cleaning and the program is to discuss issues related to beach raking and the use of the Parks Board permit. The WGIPOA Board of Directors met with Park’s Board personnel recently and reviewed issues and concerns about beach raking and the use of the Parks Board permit. At this time, the Parks Board decision is to eliminate third party contracts beginning 2019. It has been mentioned that if a property owner association was in the process of obtaining a permit and would commit to abide by the Corps permit’s terms and conditions with a schedule provided, the Corps permit could be used until the POA permit was approved. Other items were discussed such as a regional permit or the WGIPOA obtaining one. . The Parks Board has agreed to assess 4 or 5 options that were put before them and to come back to the WGIPOA Board at a meeting on 9/21. Some of these options will be discussed at the September 15 meeting. You will not want to miss this meeting.
NOTE: The Management of the Galveston Country Club has established new parking procedures for meetings on Saturday morning. The main front parking lot will be reserved exclusively for golfers and all other parking will be on the side next to the pool, in back next to the bay, and behind the club house where the entrance is the back door. There will be parking attendants to direct you. If it is raining, the golfers parking lot will be available.
